Intercultural Open University Foundation (IOUF) was established in 1981 by Jan R. Hakemulder and his wife Fay A. C. De Jonge.  They both served as education advisors with UNESCO in Africa.  In 2008 Jan died and the President, Board of Governors, Faculty, and staff are saddened again to announce the death of Fay on December 11, 2015.

 

Jan and Fay both devoted their lives to establishing an affordable distributive education program for learners worldwide.  Their endowment has provided the support to lead IOUF into a consortium with Universidad Azteca and Universidad Central de Nicaragua to offer accredited graduate degrees and continued support for worldwide social change programs.
