Intercultural Open University Foundation Grants Financial Support to the SolarAid

Solar power is one of the best clean alternatives to conventional sources of energy especially in times where environmental change and destruction is a big concern. We at IOU Foundation along with our partners the Universidad Azteca and the Central University of Nicaragua (UCN) share this belief. In 2015, the UCN developed its new solar-powered campus to become the first university in Nicaragua to use solar energy. Inspired by our partners, the IOU Foundation supports initiatives working towards the cause of improving the world in a sustainable and environment-friendly manner. Continuing this series, our Foundation recently provided financial support to the SolarAid, an international charity that provides access to solar lights in Africa to help catalyze solar markets and eradicate the kerosene lamp. Our support will enable SolarAid to distribute 184 solar lights – reaching 800 people in rural Africa with clean, safe and affordable solar light.

IOUF, as an advocate of social change and sustainable development, is proud to stand with SolarAid in its endeavor to build a clean energy future.
