IOU Foundation Congratulates the Graduates in the Mentoring Program Thursdays with Mu

Thursdays with Mu, a LIfe-Centered mentoring program, is a reflective learning and mentoring program inspired by the spirit of meaningful life conversations represented by Tuesdays with Morrie. It is not simply a lecture series, but a place where participants pause, think deeply, and explore essential questions about life, relationships, leadership, service, and purpose

The program is based on Professor Muneo Yoshikawa’s lifelong work in intercultural communication, mentoring, mindfulness, well-being, and human development. Through dialogue, shared stories, practical wisdom, and heartfelt reflection, participants are invited to deepen self-awareness, strengthen their values, and discover how their own lives can become a source of encouragement and support for others.

The participants are not merely students who seek information or techniques. They are adult learners, mentors, professionals, leaders, educators, and seekers of wisdom who wish to live more fully and contribute more meaningfully to people, organizations, society, and the Earth. They come from different backgrounds and life experiences, yet they share a common aspiration: to learn how to support others with compassion, integrity, and a life-centered spirit.

One of the central themes of Thursdays with Mu is regeneration. Drawing on the ideas of Regeneration and Regenerative Leadership, the program emphasizes placing life at the center of our thinking, choices, relationships, and actions. Regeneration here means more than recovery or improvement; it means awakening the life-giving potential within individuals, communities, organizations, and the larger world.

In this sense, Thursdays with Mu may be understood as a life-centered mentoring journey. Its purpose is to nurture wisdom, compassion, mutual learning, and positive transformation so that each participant can live with greater joy, serve others more deeply, and take part in the regeneration of life.
