IOU Foundation Contributes to Reforestation in S.Pablo Etla Oaxaca

President Sandra Hurlong represented IOU Foundation on July 17, 2011 in a major reforestation project undertaken by the residents of San Pablo Etla, Oaxaca, Mexico. With the assistance of experts in Mexico, the local community, and volunteers from abroad, a program of careful multispecies tree planting has begun. This is being done in such a way as to extend and preserve the diversity of the surrounding mountain forests.

The President and the Board of Governors are pleased to announce that the IOU Foundation has joined the United States Distance Learning Association. As one of the premier distance learning associations in the United States the USDLA mission is in keeping with the IOUF mission to support the development and application of distributed learning, mentoring, training, and uniting learners from around the world.

Gulab KothariThe President, Board of Governors, and faculty of the Intercultural Open University Foundation has conferred the 2011 IOU Foundation Peace Award to Group- Editor-in-Chief of the Rajasthan Patrika, Dr. Gulab Kothari. The award was given for his tireless efforts to further the cause for World Peace. Dr. Kothari has dedicated so much of his life to enriching community relationships while promoting human rights and global consciousness for a non-violent peaceful world.
Innovative Approaches for the Intercultural Open University Foundation

On April 19, 2011, Intercultural Open University Foundation held a symposium at the Arden, Delaware (USA) location to honor two distinguished graduates and to examine the future of educating change agents.  The round table symposium acknowledged that future change agents would have to study and acquire self-discovery, mastery of ICT skills, and the creation of a new vision for humanity.

HEXTLEARN Assess Institutional Quality of Intercultural Open University Foundation

The Board of Governors, the President, Faculty, and Staff are pleased to announce that in October 2010 Hextlearn completed its peer review of IOU Foundation for quality in the innovative and creative use of ICT in higher education.  The Hextlearn consortium which included EUROPACE, EFQUEL (European Foundation for Quality in eLearning), University of Granada, Scienter Espana, University Erlangen-Nuremberg (DE), and EDEN (European Distance and eLearning Network) found the mentoring methodology used by IOUF to promote social change to be particularly successful due to the learner-centered educational environment devoted to social change and research in a global perspective.
